3. Personal Jesus - Eric Prydz Remix
4. Personal Jesus - M.A.N. Remix
5. Personal Jesus - Sie Medway-Smith Remix Dub Version

Quotes from the remixers;

Eric Prydz:
"Depeche Mode was the one band that first got me in to making music as a kid. So when Mute contacted me and asked if I wanted to remix Personal Jesus ( and Never Let Me Down Again) I nearly fell off my chair. My Personal Jesus Remix is very straightforward and in your face. I wanted to make something that would work in almost any DJ's set. From John Digweed to David Guetta and all in between."

Tor Hermansen, Stargate:
"To remix any Depeche Mode-song is a great honor - to remix PersonalJesus is like being knighted. When Rihanna told me she's a Depeche Mode fan, I had to tell her "I was a DM-fan before you were born, girl."

Alex Metric:
"It was an honour and a privilege to be able to get my hands on a classic record like Personal Jesus. I hope I did it some justice with my new version. I can clearly remember the first time I heard Depeche Mode as a teenager, and they made quite an impression on me, so to be able to work with the band in some way has been amazing."

Sie Medway-Smith:
"Remixing Personal Jesus had an added element - the fear factor! Howto approach such an iconic piece of music, when the original is such aperfectly executed classic. It took me three attempts to finally feel happy with what I did here. I hope I have done it justice, it was amazing to hear the raw stems in isolation on the desk".

On June 6th, Depeche Mode release 'Remixes 2: 81-11' on Mute. An inspiring collection of new and classic mixes of material covering their entire career, the album includes remixes of tracks from their 1981 debut 'Speak And Spell', through to 2009's 'Sounds Of The Universe', and is the follow-up to 2004's million-plus selling 'Remixes 81-04'.

Mute At Short Circuit - A Wrap Up By Peter Philipsen

This past weekend saw a special 2 day Mute festival take place in London, celebrating the unique label, which has been home to Depeche Mode since 1981, and their eclectic history.

The two day festival, taking place at the legendary Roundhouse in Camden, included performances from a wide range of acts from the Mute roster, included past and present Depeche Mode members.

Friday evening Alan Wilder presented his Recoil "A Strange Hour" performance - a haunting show including several unique renditions of Mode classics - which culminated by Nitzer Ebb joining him on stage for an encore consisting of (amongst other things) "Personal Jesus".

Saturday's program was chuck full from midday till very late; starting out with several times Depeche Mode-collaborator and all round Mute-studio wiz Gareth Jones, who hosted a talk and Q&A session revolving around his history with the label in general and Depeche Mode in particular. Also putting in an appearance at the festival was Flood, who also did a presentation, much of which centered around his work with Depeche Mode; this included a detailed breakdown of the elements that made up "Enjoy The Silence", and lots of fun and insightful stories.

The evening program in the main hall was opened by live performances from Liars and The Residents, before Andy Fletcher took to the stage kicking off the first of two DJ sets with the just released Eric Prydz remix of "Never Let Me Down Again", which whipped the crowd into a bit of a frenzy. After that founding member of Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, came on stage for a unique show including three songs with his post-Mode partner in Yazoo, Alison Moyet, followed by a hits-packed Erasure set. Erasure ended their set being joined by Feargal Sharkey of The Undertones fame, who sang in short lived The Assembly for a performance of their hit "Never Never" from 1983.

A second set from Fletch was followed by a performance by Laibach, and closing out the festivals main stage for the weekend was Martin Gore with a banging DJ set, which had the crowd going till well past the announced curfew for the venue.

The aftershow party saw Daniel Miller and Rex The Dog behind the decks in the smaller Studio Theatre room, and an artists/crew only aftershow in the Made In Camden restaurant.

Achtung Baby Covers Album To Benefit Concern's Emergency Famine Work In East Africa
November 15, 2011

AHK-Toong BAY-Bi Covered

Album Featuring Nine Inch Nails, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode, Jack White, The Killers and More Available for Download Exclusively on iTunes

AHK-Toong BAY-Bi Covered, the unique covers album of U2's Achtung Baby featuring Nine Inch Nails, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode, Jack White, The Killers and others, is available for download worldwide starting today exclusively on the iTunes Store, with all proceeds to benefit Concern Worldwide's work in famine-stricken areas of East Africa. The album will be available on iTunes in the UK on November 28th.

With the support of iTunes, the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) and all of the participating artists, managers & labels, all proceeds from the sale of AHK-Toong BAY-Bi Covered, will support Concern's response to the East Africa crisis, where thousands of children have already died of hunger or related diseases and over 10 million people remain at risk.

"This crisis in East Africa is still very much an emergency and Concern is delighted that all of the parties involved are making this hugely significant contribution to our work in the region," said Concern CEO, Tom Arnold. "We are honored they have chosen Concern as the exclusive beneficiaries."

Mr Arnold added: "It is disappointing that such a major ongoing humanitarian situation has largely disappeared from the media headlines. Offering the proceeds from AHK-Toong BAY-Bi Covered to Concern's East Africa appeal also provides a timely reminder that alleviation of the hunger and wider health crisis in the region must not be forgotten and should remain a global priority."With over 25 years' experience in East Africa, Concern has strong links with local communities and local partners, thereby increasing the agency's effectiveness and impact in getting help and assistance to those that need it most. The agency began responding to the needs of the current emergency since its onset in late 2010 and is currently reaching 680,000 people with clean water, food and nutritional care.

AHK-Toong BAY-Bi Covered, conceived for Q Magazine to mark their 25th Anniversary issue, and coinciding with the 20th Anniversary re-release of Achtung Baby, is available with Q Magazine's December 2011 issue featuring U2 on the cover.

Vince Clarke And Martin L. Gore Announce Details Of Brand New Collaboration - VCMG
November 21, 2011

After 30 years working on their respective ongoing music projects, Vince Clarke (Erasure / Yazoo / Depeche Mode) and Martin L. Gore (Depeche Mode) come together for the first time since 1981 as VCMG to release a brand new album on Mute, preceded by a series of EPs.

VCMG is the fruit of initially tentative discussion and subsequent enthused collaboration where Vince and Martin, both influential as pioneers in electronic music, get to exercise their lifelong love of the genre as the techno inspired VCMG.

As Vince explains: "I've been getting into and listening to a lot of minimal dance music and I got really intrigued by all the sounds… I realised I needed a collaborator… so it occurred to me to talk to Martin."

Says Gore: "Out of the blue I got an e-mail from Vince just saying, 'I'm interested in making a techno album. Are you interested in collaborating?' This was maybe a year ago. He said, 'No pressure, no deadlines,' so I said, 'OK'."

The writing and recording of the album was done in a typically unique way with the pair working alone in their respective studios, communicating only via email, exchanging files until the album was ready. It was in May 2011 that the pair met for the first time to discuss the project when they both performed at Short Circuit presents Mute festival in London.

The album 'Ssss' (due out on March 12th on Mute) was produced by Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore and mixed by the influential Californian electronic artist Überzone / Q.

The first release is an EP entitled Spock. EP1 / SPOCK will feature remixes from Edit-Select, aka Tony Scott, the UK DJ / producer and founder of EditSelect Records whose previous remix credits include Speedy J, Death In Vegas and Gary Beck; Regis, British techno musician Karl O'Connor, member of the Sandwell District collective and co-founder of Downwards Records); Zak aka DVS1, founder of Hush Records and one of the most prominent figures in US dance music counts techno innovator Derrick May amongst his biggest fans, with his second ever release on May's own Transmat plus XOQ, the alter ego of Überzone / Q, who mixed the VCMG album.

EP1 / SPOCK will be available initially as a global exclusive on Beatport on 30 November, and then on all DSPs from 12 December with the 12" release following on 19 December 2011.

MOTOR "Man Made Machine" Featuring Martin L. Gore
December 20, 2011

motor featuring martin l. gore

Pioneering techno duo MOTOR is about to release their fourth album on CLR. After completing three massively successful and critically acclaimed techno albums, Bryan Black and Oly Grasset, who together form the act MOTOR, have shifted gears and recorded a song-based vocal album by the name of "Man Made Machine". The first single, also titled "Man Made Machine", features Martin L. Gore on vocal duties.

Apart from the original and extended versions, the EP contains three additional remixes by Black Asteroid, Radio Slave and Chris Liebing, as well as the "Man Made Machine" video. Just recently, when MOTOR secretly played the original version of the track on a BBC radio broadcast, it got over 10.000 views within hours of being ripped and broadcasted on YouTube. The reactions from Depeche Mode and MOTOR fans are absolutely ecstatic. One online comment, which has often been quoted and agreed to, is that "Man Made Machine" sounds like a modern version of the Depeche Mode track "Personal Jesus" - obviously a royal honour for the guys from MOTOR.

There is no doubt that this EP and the whole album will draw attention from various musical scenes, and the CLR team is very exited about this release. It seems perfectly in line with the label's strong techno roots, as well as with its increasingly open-minded musical philosophy. Chris Liebing himself has always been inspired by the "out of the ordinary" techno approach of MOTOR and is highly pleased to form part of this new chapter in the band's history.
